Rural Parish General Needs

In Rural Alaska, where family groups are focused primarily on the production of wild foods to feed their families, households tend to be more interdependent and mutually supportive of each other. Churches and catechetical programs in these villages are well attended and well supported. Still, incomes are modest and often directed toward subsistence necessities such as, fishing and hunting equipment. Trips must be made “outside” whenever medical appointments are necessary beyond what their village clinic can supply. In order to heat the churches, maintain the buildings, provide smoke detectors, paint, supplies for snow removal, and send sacramental and instructional materials to our missionaries—we rely greatly on your generosity and we are truly grateful.
